Multitude Media has appointed Gem Pinkney as managing director, creating a new leadership role as the PR agency prepares to expand into live entertainment.
Previously the company’s Director of TV, Pinkney steps up as part of a wider restructure led by founder and CEO Will Wood. The changes include three promotions within the television division, a broader strategy role for Charlotte Kershaw and plans to recruit over the coming months.
Gem Pinkney Takes Newly Created Managing Director Role
Pinkney’s promotion follows her work leading Multitude Media’s television business.
Wood credited her with reshaping the division and helping the agency attract the kinds of projects he had long wanted it to handle. He said growth across the company’s divisions had created an opportunity to strengthen its senior leadership.
The managing director appointment forms a central part of that effort as Multitude prepares for its next phase of expansion.
Three Promotions Strengthen the TV Division
Multitude’s television operation will be led by a senior team covering distinct areas of publicity. All three executives have been promoted:
- Nicole Campbell — Senior PR Lead, Scripted & Entertainment
- Sal Porter — Senior PR Lead, Unscripted & Factual
- Jess Molyneux — Senior PR Lead, Corporate and Special Projects
The structure gives the division dedicated senior leads across scripted programming, entertainment, factual television and corporate work.
Multitude Media Prepares Live Entertainment Expansion
Alongside the leadership changes, Multitude is planning a push into live entertainment, with additional hires expected over the next few months.
The expansion will add to an agency business that already works across television, personal publicity and cultural organizations. Its PR clients include Danny Dyer, Lolly Adefope, Shazad Latif, BAFTA and a range of production companies.
Charlotte Kershaw to Lead Strategy and Creative Development
Charlotte Kershaw will return from maternity leave in January as Strategy & Creative Director across TV, Culture and Live Entertainment.
Kershaw, who joined Multitude in 2019, will help guide the agency’s move into new areas and identify business opportunities across those three sectors.
Her expanded remit connects the company’s existing television and culture work with its planned live entertainment activity. Details of specific live projects and incoming appointments have not yet been announced.
Emily Hargreaves Continues to Lead Personal PR
Emily Hargreaves will remain in charge of Multitude Media’s personal PR business.
Having spent nearly a decade with the agency, she continues to oversee the division whose clients include Dyer, Adefope and Latif.
Her continuing role provides an established leadership presence within personal publicity as the company expands elsewhere.
Will Wood Sets Out the Agency’s Growth Plans
Wood described the restructure as a response to growth across Multitude’s divisions and the opportunities ahead.
He also emphasized the experience of the existing team, noting that some colleagues are approaching ten years with the company. The appointments reflect a focus on promoting established staff while preparing to bring in additional expertise.
What Comes Next for Multitude Media?
The next stage will involve recruitment and the development of the agency’s live entertainment business.
With Pinkney moving into the managing director position, a newly promoted television leadership team in place and Kershaw taking on a broader strategic remit, Multitude has outlined how it intends to support that expansion.
